You have the opportunity to view and test our reformers in our showroom: Vela Pilates Studio Telgte (Fürstendiek 12, 48291 Telgte). You can book a showroom appointment here . If you don't live near one of our showrooms, we also offer virtual appointments via FaceTime, WhatsApp or Zoom.
We recommend a minimum space of 3m (L) x 1.5m (W) to effectively use your reformer for all exercises. The cable system/pole end of the reformer can be placed flush against a wall or piece of furniture, ensuring there is enough space at the foot bar end of the reformer to attach or adjust the springboard.
The maximum weight limit for the vela Original Reformer is 160 kg.
All of our reformer models are equipped with a 5-spring system: 1x red spring (strongest resistance), 2x blue springs (medium resistance) and 2x yellow springs (light resistance). These resistance levels, combined with the additional spring board positions, offer numerous options for increasing the resistance over the course of your Pilates training.
Since reformer springs are not comparable to traditional weights, we cannot measure them in the same way. However, it is helpful to know that the tension of our springs at a 30 cm stretch corresponds to the following values:
Red (strongest resistance) = 12.2 kg
Blue (medium resistance) = 6.6 kg
Yellow (lightest resistance) = 4.1 kg
These simple tips will help keep your reformer in top condition for years to come:
Store the reformer indoors to protect the springs and metal elements from rust and excessive dust.
Do not eat or drink on the Reformer.
After use, wipe the upholstery with a microfiber cloth moistened with dishwashing liquid and warm water.
Avoid spraying liquids or undiluted cleaning agents directly onto the reformer. A microfiber cloth will ensure even cleaning and prevent product buildup.
Dust and wipe down the reformer rails once a week to keep the carriage wheel movement free of dust and dirt and to operate smoothly.
Wash the hand/foot straps by hand and let them air dry. If you want to machine wash them, place them in a laundry bag and select a gentle cycle. Then let them air dry (do not tumble dry).
Every few months, you should remove the carriage from the reformer and tighten the nuts on the carriage wheels to ensure that the carriage continues to run straight on the rails.
Replace the reformer springs regularly to ensure even wear and maximum service life.
When the reformer is not in use, leave one red spring tensioned to prevent the carriage from moving if someone sits on it or puts weight on it. Avoid leaving all springs tensioned as this can wear out the spring tension faster.
We recommend replacing the springs every few years, but this may vary depending on usage and may be necessary sooner (especially if the reformer begins to creak or make noise).
